Christmas in Tenerife can mean coastal walks, shared meals and time together without a packed schedule. For families and friends staying in the south, a villa gives you space to cook and settle into your own routine. Here is a practical guide to Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve and Three Kings, with Armeñime in Adeje as your base.
We recommend a car for a stay in Armeñime. Villa Dolce Vita is in a residential area, rather than on the beachfront. Before choosing your base, read our guide to Armeñime and the surrounding area.
What weather to expect at Christmas in Tenerife
In December, Tenerife South Airport records an average daily high of 22.8°C and an average daily low of 16.5°C. These are AEMET climate averages for 1981–2010. They offer regional context, not a forecast for the villa.
Pack light clothes for daytime, plus a jacket for evenings and a layer for rain. Also bring sun protection. A coastal walk can be a lovely plan, while swimming depends on sea conditions and your own comfort in the water. Check the forecast before heading out.
The dates to plan around
- 24 December, Christmas Eve: decide whether to cook or eat out, then finish your food shopping in advance.
- 25 December, Christmas Day: keep the morning relaxed. Confirm opening hours with any restaurant or shop you intend to visit.
- 31 December, New Year’s Eve: arrange dinner and your journey home before going out. Follow the countdown at local Canary Islands time.
- 1 January, New Year’s Day: have breakfast supplies ready so you can enjoy a slow start.
- 5 and 6 January, Three Kings: check the current council programme for family activities and any announced parades.
Shop and restaurant hours may change over the holiday period. Therefore, check with each business directly and book special meals ahead of time.
New Year’s Eve in South Tenerife: events and fireworks
As of our review on 23 October 2026, we have not confirmed Adeje’s full Christmas programme for 2026–27. Start with the official Adeje council events calendar for concerts, children’s activities and celebrations.
If fireworks are part of your plan, wait for the organiser to confirm the location and time. Do not assume that a beach will repeat last year’s display. Before choosing where to spend midnight, check access arrangements, restrictions and your return transport.
Christmas in Tenerife with a meal at home
Cooking together can be part of the holiday. First, agree on a simple menu and check dietary needs. Then share the shopping between your group. This leaves more time for the meal itself and less time working in the kitchen.
The Agromercado de Adeje, at Calle Archajara 5, offers agricultural, livestock and craft products. Its website lists regular opening hours of 08:00–13:30 on Saturdays and Sundays. However, confirm any Christmas changes before visiting: regular hours do not guarantee opening on a particular public holiday.
Local cheese, seasonal vegetables and a main dish to share make a simple starting point. You could also look for traditional Christmas pastries called truchas. Tourism Tenerife mentions these filled sweets in its guide to Christmas traditions. That article dates from 2024, so its event listings are historical.

Easy daytime plans in the south
Between special meals, take a walk in Costa Adeje or La Caleta. If you choose a beach day, check the sea conditions and beach flags on arrival. Alternatively, keep a quieter day for reading, games or a leisurely lunch if the weather changes.
For festive lights and nativity displays, choose a town and check its current programme first. Also allow time for parking and the journey back. You do not need to cross the island every day to enjoy your stay.
A holiday base at Villa Dolce Vita
Villa Dolce Vita has 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and space for up to 9 guests. There is a kitchen, Wi-Fi, terraces and a private pool with heating included. You can view the villa details and booking conditions before selecting dates.
One bedroom and one bathroom can be reached without climbing stairs, while other areas have stairs. The house has no air conditioning. Street parking is subject to availability, and pets require prior approval. A specific pool water temperature is not guaranteed.
The villa suits quiet meals shared by the registered guests. Parties, events and visitors who are not staying are not allowed. Quiet hours start at 23:00. For music and dancing into the early hours, choose an authorised event elsewhere and return with respect for the neighbours.
Before booking Christmas in Tenerife
Check that your accommodation, flights and transport work for the same dates. For a group, confirm passenger seats, luggage space and any child seats too. Finally, review the total price, minimum stay and cancellation terms in the booking calendar. This guide does not confirm availability for Christmas or New Year.
