A Teide day trip from Adeje adds a day of volcanic scenery to a holiday in southern Tenerife. Staying at Villa Dolce Vita in Armeñime, you can plan a drive with viewpoint stops, include a cable car ride or arrange a summit hike. Start by choosing the experience that suits your group: each option needs different preparation.
This guide was checked on 24 October 2026. Prices, booking arrangements and restrictions can change, so use the official links to check the conditions for your travel date.
Choose between viewpoints, the cable car and the summit
For a first visit, we suggest a scenic drive with stops in designated areas and time to enjoy Las Cañadas. You can appreciate the landscape without committing to a high mountain ascent. Choose any walks according to current trail conditions and the abilities of everyone travelling with you.
The cable car is a separate activity. It reaches La Rambleta at around 3,555 metres, but a cable car ticket does not include permission to climb to the summit. The final section follows PNT 10 Telesforo Bravo. Despite its short distance, the park rates it as difficult because of the gradient and altitude. Read the official summit trail information before deciding.
Transport for a Teide day trip from Adeje
One driving option from the villa is to head towards Chío and follow the TF-38 to Boca de Tauce. The alternative via Vilaflor uses the TF-21. Both approaches appear in the park’s official access information. Choose your route according to road conditions and the stops you want to make. Allow extra time for winding roads and parking.
For public transport, TITSA bus 342 leaves Costa Adeje bus station. The timetable checked lists a daily departure at 09:25 and a return departure from the cable car stop at 15:40. Arrange your journey from Armeñime to Costa Adeje separately. Recheck the timetable and return stop before booking an activity.
A guided excursion with transport is another option. Confirm the pickup point and whether tickets and permits are included; collection from the villa should not be assumed. Our guide to getting around from Armeñime can help you plan the rest of your stay.
Which Teide permits do you need?
Trail authorisations are handled through Tenerife ON. The Cabildo’s October update lists five trails requiring reservations: PNT 07, PNT 09, PNT 10, PNT 23 and PNT 28. A summit permit and permission for a walking approach are different bookings.
For PNT 10 and PNT 07, the booking guidance states a 56-day booking horizon, with new availability released on Mondays at 07:00 Canary Islands time. Carry your confirmation and identification. If combining the summit with the cable car, make sure the two reservations fit together before finalising your day.
Times and prices for your Teide day trip from Adeje
The booking conditions for PNT 10 and PNT 07, checked on 24 October, specify a paid period of 09:00–17:00. On PNT 10, complete the walk within your booked slot. On PNT 07, your time refers to the checkpoint 4.6 km from the start, rather than departure from the car park; the permit covers both directions that day. Check your individual slot when booking and the cable car’s seasonal timetable separately.
The Cabildo update dated 15 October 2026 gives these charges for paid time slots:
- PNT 10: €15 for visitors resident outside the Canary Islands; €6 for residents of the other Canary Islands. Tenerife residents and children under 14 are exempt.
- PNT 07: €6 on working days or €10 on weekends and public holidays for residents outside the Canaries; €3 or €5 respectively for other Canary Islands residents. Free for Tenerife residents.
- PNT 09, 23 and 28: the update introduces reservations without setting a fee.
Check the slot and amount shown by Tenerife ON for your date and eligibility. Do not use an old guide’s timetable to assume that a trail can be entered without authorisation.
Separately, the cable car operator’s published table lists return tickets from €42 for a non-resident adult and €21 for children aged 3–13. Listed resident rates start at €10.50 and €5.25. These are starting prices: check the required proof of eligibility and the total for your chosen departure. Optional extras cost more.
Restrictions and what to bring
The cable car operator’s conditions exclude children under three, pregnant visitors, people with cardiovascular conditions and people with physical or motor disabilities, citing evacuation constraints. Appropriate closed footwear is required. If a health condition may affect your visit, seek medical advice beforehand.
For regulated mountain trails, check the compulsory equipment on the trail page: warm clothing, long trousers, mountain footwear, water, a charged phone, a head torch, emergency blanket, hat and gloves, according to the requirements for each trail. Holding a booking does not replace the equipment requirements. Ice or snow bring additional experience and equipment requirements, including crampons and an ice axe, and trails may close. PNT 07 and PNT 10 exclude children under three; under-16s must be accompanied by an adult.
Check the park’s notices and cable car status before leaving. An operating cable car does not mean that the trails are open. Ticket and permit changes or refunds are handled under separate conditions.
Follow the park’s visitor rules: park only in designated areas, stay on authorised paths, take your rubbish away and leave rocks and plants untouched. Outdoor fires and smoking, including vaping, are prohibited.
Return to Villa Dolce Vita after your mountain day
For your Teide day trip from Adeje, we suggest keeping the itinerary spacious: travel, one main activity, a meal and the return journey. For a group with different ages or abilities, viewpoint stops may be a better fit than making the summit the day’s objective.
Villa Dolce Vita provides a base in Armeñime for combining excursions with time to relax. It has four bedrooms, three bathrooms and space for up to nine guests, with heating included for its private swimming pool. Check dates and prices for your stay, then plan the Teide experience that suits your group.
