A holiday in South Tenerife with reduced mobility starts with checking the access you need. Travelling with several generations can bring everyone together for meals, seaside outings and time to unwind. Everyone has their own pace. Travelling with grandparents does not necessarily mean anyone needs assistance, while people with reduced mobility may have very different access requirements.
If you are planning a holiday in South Tenerife with reduced mobility, check the actual routes through your accommodation and the services available at your chosen beach. This guide explains the access details at Villa Dolce Vita and points you towards published information on assisted bathing.
Information checked on 24 October 2026. Villa details are based on the owner’s confirmations, rather than an independent accessibility assessment.
South Tenerife with reduced mobility: choosing a holiday home
A ground-floor bedroom can be useful, but it does not tell you everything about a property. Explain whether you use a walking stick, walking frame or wheelchair, and what assistance you need. If you use a wheelchair, sharing its dimensions can help make the discussion more precise.
- The arrival route: ask about kerbs, steps and thresholds between your drop-off point and the bedroom.
- Doorways and manoeuvring space: check the clear opening with the door open, as well as the space you need beside the bed and toilet.
- The shower: ask whether it is level with the floor and whether a seat and grab rails are provided.
- Shared areas: check the living room, kitchen, dining room, terraces and pool separately. A bedroom without stairs does not mean every part of the property is step-free.
Ask for photographs of the route and any features that will determine whether the property works for you. Specific details are more useful than a broad accessibility label.
Access at Villa Dolce Vita
Villa Dolce Vita is in Armeñime, Adeje. With four bedrooms and three bathrooms for up to nine guests, it can provide a base for a family stay, provided the layout meets everyone’s needs.
- The side entrance leads to the ground-floor bedroom and its en-suite bathroom without stairs. There is no step at this entrance when approaching from the pavement.
- There is a kerb of approximately 10 cm between the road and pavement. A brief stop beside the entrance is possible, but plan how the guest will get from the vehicle onto the pavement. Do not assume a level route from the road.
- The owner confirms a 90 cm clear opening at the side entrance and bathroom doorway, with manoeuvring space beside the bed and toilet. Detailed turning-space measurements are not available, so suitability for every wheelchair cannot be guaranteed.
- The shower is level with the floor, but has no shower seat or grab rails.
- The living room, kitchen and dining room can be reached without stairs. This does not describe every terrace.
- There are stairs on the route to the pool. Pool heating is included, but the pool is not offered as having step-free access.
Street parking is subject to availability. The villa is not beachfront, and we recommend a car. If you need an adapted transfer, agree the vehicle and the assistance required with your transport provider before travelling.
Assisted beach bathing in South Tenerife
Getting onto the sand and receiving assistance into the sea are different services. A ramp or an amphibious wheelchair does not, on its own, mean that staff will be available to help you bathe.
Las Vistas, Los Cristianos and Las Galletas
Arona Council lists year-round assisted bathing at Las Vistas, with winter hours of 10:00–14:00 and 15:00–17:00, amphibious chairs, crutches and a hoist. Los Cristianos and Las Galletas operate seasonally: 15 June–15 September and Easter Week. Groups must book. Confirm arrangements on +34 672 786 195 or at arona@pro-activa.es.
Fañabé, Torviscas and the distinction at El Duque
Discapnet’s guide, updated in June 2026, lists bathing assistance with amphibious chairs and crutches at Fañabé and Torviscas. It does not provide current operating hours, so check before travelling. At El Duque, it lists an amphibious chair without a bathing assistance service; this is not the same provision.
Planning a relaxed day out
Before leaving, confirm the meeting point, the assistance available and any requirements for using the service. Check sea conditions and follow the beach team’s instructions. Published information helps you plan, but cannot guarantee that a service will operate on a particular day.
A family holiday can combine outings with relaxed meals at home and time for everyone to do their own thing. Nobody needs to join every activity. For a stay in the cooler months, our guide to winter swimming in Tenerife and a heated pool offers further ideas. Remember that the villa’s pool is reached by stairs.
